Saturday saw round three of the Taylors Parts/Repco Track Championship play out. There certainly wasn't a huge field of contestants but it was certainly a wonderful afternoon of racing with some quality cars on the track and I'm pretty sure that everyone in attendance had a ball, I know I certainly did. Maybe I'm just getting old but you've really got to admire the older cars turning up to race, they are certainly something else and the crowd just love them. I'm talking about the likes of Grant Whitmore and his fabulous EH wagon, it certainly is a classic with huge burnouts and spectacular launches and a really lovely bloke to go with it. I mentioned what a pleasure it was to watch and he replied that he just so loved racing it. Another one would be Toss Mohr and his LJ Torana which had the fastest pass of the day 125.63mph in qualifying and then he comes out in racing and goes one better with a 126.46mph pass. He really has got his stuff together and to top that there were three generations of the Mohr family doing their bit for Ironbark Raceway. What a credit they are. There was also Phil Halpin's HG Kingswood wagon and another HG sedan from David Kipping. Damo McHugh also had a wonderful afternoon in his Commodore sedan with it performing really well and he was rapt enough to make the comment that " the car had enough to keep him coming back and just enough to keep him scared" well done Damo. Not only in the cars did we see classics but also the Bikes with the likes of Warren Dun on his 1400cc Suzuki, just wonderful stuff.

They say Drag Racing is a family sport and that was certainly the case for the Jannusch family where family members featured in no less than three class finals and were able to win all three. Congratulations guys.

Once again the club would like to thank the wonderful volunteers and Sponsors especially the meeting sponsor Jodie Crimmins from Pets 'n' Claws pet grooming.
